To navigate society today, we are constantly expected to play different roles. At work, we become dedicated employees; at school, successful students; at home, loving partners, husbands, and wives. We adapt, perform, and often learn to present the version of ourselves that is expected by others.
But what happens when the roles are set aside?
Sitting in front of the artist with a cup of tea or coffee, the people portrayed in this exhibition are given a space where they do not have to perform. They can simply be themselves — sharing their stories, reflecting on their past, or talking about their hopes and plans for the future.
This exhibition is a celebration of the human being in all their complexity and individuality. It explores the beauty of diversity — the different personalities, experiences, characters, and identities.
Despite the fact that the works are created using academic drawing and painting techniques, the focus extends beyond physical appearance. Through gesture, expression, posture, and subtle details, the paintings seek to reveal something of the inner world of each person — their character, psychology, and individual presence.
