ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Aisling Isolde and Phoebe Kiri probably met as unidentified oddball creatures in the primordial soup, once. In the interest of ongoing myth-making, they decided it simply made sense to work together in this life, too. Finding time to draw outside their day jobs, they felt it was time for another show.
Aisling (she/her) has been exploring The Sublime in her works lately. The vastness of every emotion not asking for a translation- it simply is. Her intense focus on layering lines and colours pulls the viewer in, encouraging them to accept their own thrall. Her work lately has been reflecting on the relief of ego from the physical space. The shapes her own body forms as she focusses on creating. An experienced visual artist/illustrator, her love of trying different 2D mediums extends this time to acrylic paint markers and ink brush pens. She loves her partner Seymour, her pigeon Lentil and cooking a delicious variety of food.
Phoebe (they/them) experienced their own laughably humbling process in attempting to ink an entire Maōri-influenced Major Arcana set of works, and continues to be haunted by the overcommitment. There’s comfort in surreal imagery that takes motifs of Identity and Place and holds them closely until they’re processed and flung haphazardly into Earth’s orbit. Having a background in zines and tattooing, Phoebe adores the world around them and sharing it in their sketchbook. Ink lives there along with the other fascinations. They love their partner John-Stanley, swimming, long dogs and talking about music like sports statistics.
